Vital Parks Explorer

5:30 p.m.–7:00 p.m.
New York City’s parks are more than just green spaces—they are essential public resources that shape our communities, environment, and collective well-being.
Join NYC Parks for an interactive workshop on the Vital Parks Explorer, a powerful data tool designed to put critical information in the hands of the people who need it most—you, the residents of New York City. Learn how to access key data on park amenities, planned renovations, enforcement patrols, public restrooms, and upcoming events—and how to use this information to advocate for a fairer, greener city.
As part of Vital Parks for All: Investing in NYC’s Living Infrastructure, NYC Parks is committed to ensuring communities have access to high-quality public green spaces. Real change happens when communities come together, armed with knowledge and a commitment to action. New Yorkers can hold decision-makers accountable and push for the investments their neighborhoods need. Our parks and public spaces reflect the priorities of those in power—let’s make sure they reflect the needs of the people who use them every day.
In this workshop, we’ll explore how to:
- Navigate the Vital Parks Explorer to uncover data about your local parks
- Identify disparities in funding, maintenance, and capital improvements
- Leverage data to organize, advocate, and push for policy changes that benefit all communities
Parks are public goods, but they need public champions; this is your chance to become a more powerful steward of New York City’s green spaces—because access to safe, thriving parks is not a privilege; it’s a right.
Let’s work together to demand transparency, fight for equitable investment, and ensure that NYC’s parks serve all communities—now and for future generations.
